Dr. Alvida Green was elected chair of the Virginia Beach Public Schools legislative committee for fiscal year 2027 after a nomination from Melinda Rogers and a second from Rose Dwyer. The committee recorded three affirmative votes and Dr. Green accepted the chair role.
Melinda Rogers nominated Green and Rose Dwyer seconded the nomination; during the roll call the chair recorded that Green, Rogers and Dwyer raised their hands in support. Rose Dwyer said, "I vote yes." After the count, the school board attorney announced, "So 3 votes. Congratulations, doctor Green." The committee then turned to routine business by adopting the meeting agenda and approving minutes from Oct. 31, 2025 before proceeding to policy updates and discussion.
