County, Teamsters begin bargaining for 2025–2027 deputies’ contract; sheriff flags maintenance cost pressures

The Board reconvened March 18 to continue bargaining with Teamsters Local 690. Representative Adam Jackson and Kristen Thomason met with the Commissioners to begin negotiation work on the 2025–2027 Collective Bargaining Agreement for commissioned deputies; Prosecuting Attorney Ty Albertson and Sheriff Gabe Gants were present.
Separately during the reconvened session Public Works staff and sheriff's leadership reviewed maintenance services for the sheriff’s office vehicles. Presenters reported inspections are more thorough, but costs are higher than the prior year. Sheriff Gabe Gants expressed concern about budget constraints; the minutes indicate the Solid Waste contract and fleet maintenance costs will be addressed when vendor materials are returned and available for discussion.
