Sheridan County seeks federal grants to replace ARFF truck and snow-removal equipment

Sheridan County Airport Manager Robert Gill requested board approval to apply for FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grants to replace critical equipment. Gill said the ARFF (Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting) truck requires replacement because of component failures; roughly 95% of the replacement cost would be covered by federal funds with the remainder split between the state and county. The board approved the application by unanimous vote.
Gill also requested approval to pursue federal funding to replace the airport's snow removal equipment with a new loader and plow, which he said would improve winter safety and operational efficiency. He indicated both the old ARFF truck and the old snow vehicle would likely be sold given storage and maintenance challenges. "Motion by Commissioner Wright to approve the Application for Federal Assistance to acquire new Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) truck, ARFF tools, and radio equipment," is recorded in the minutes as the formal action for the ARFF application; a similar motion and vote were recorded for the snow removal equipment application.
