Supervisors approve VDOT roadside sign-removal agreement
Summary

The board reviewed and approved a VDOT-provided model agreement that will authorize Amelia County, through the county administrator, to remove unauthorized roadside advertising signs within state rights-of-way.
County staff explained the agreement mirrors a document VDOT uses with other localities; the county attorney and county administrator reviewed and customized it where needed. The board approved a motion to adopt the resolution authorizing the chairman to execute the agreement with the VDOT commissioner; the motion carried by voice vote.
Staff said the county attorney will insert the county administrator as the authorized agent in the agreement language and that day-to-day authority to remove signs can be delegated further as the county administrator determines.
