Murrieta staff review military banner, memorial tree/bench and trail sponsorship programs

City staff reviewed three community programs administered by the Community Services Department and asked commissioners for feedback on outreach and pricing. Roseanne Otis summarized the Military Banner program, noting 42 new banners to be installed by July 31 (24 active duty, 18 veteran banners) and a banner retirement presentation scheduled for Aug. 8 at Townsquare Park Amphitheatre overseen by Mayor Lavelle.
On the Roots & Remembrance program, staff explained tree and bench options, pricing (a 15‑gallon tree at $150, a 24‑inch box tree at $450 and a bench installation cost of $1,620 for concrete pad and installation) and that one honor‑tree application has been received. The Choose Your Path initiative (adopt‑a‑trail and sponsor tiers) currently supports four adopted trails; sponsorship levels start at $250 and include recognition and maintenance support. Commissioners asked whether the bench should be offered as a complete package and staff agreed to examine options and return with updated guidance.
