Murrieta recreation supervisor Jerry Schuler to retire; staff outline internal recruitment plan

Staff told the commission that Jerry Schuler, who has worked more than 20 years in recreation and oversight of the senior center, will retire at the end of the month. Commissioners paid tribute to Schuler’s service and staff described planned recruitment steps to maintain operational continuity: interviews for the senior recreation supervisor will use an internal eligibility list established by prior recruitments, and subsequent internal recruitments may fill cascaded vacancies.
"She served as a recreation supervisor that was responsible for our senior center...and during the past year, she was promoted to our senior recreation supervisor," a staff member said, noting her promotion and decades of service. Melvin (staff) said the department will conduct internal recruitments for the senior recreation supervisor and other recreation supervisor positions and will work with HR to avoid service disruptions; the department plans to return to the commission with an update in September.
