The Parks and Recreation Commission was told the city has appointed Melvin Rossellus as interim parks and community services manager following the retirement of Leah Kolic. Staff described Rossellus as experienced with the city’s operations and said he will serve as a liaison to the commission during the interim assignment.
"Again, my name is Melvin Rossellus, currently serving as the interim parks and community services manager," Rossellus said as he introduced himself and pledged to "support our wonderful staff, maintaining the momentum on our departmental priorities and our strategic plan." Commission members welcomed Rossellus and expressed confidence in his leadership during the recruitment for a permanent manager.
The staff presentation noted the interim assignment is set for a period of up to six months while the city prepares to recruit for a permanent replacement. Commission discussion later in the meeting covered how commissioners might participate in that recruitment process.
