Representatives from West Central Initiative provided the Board with an annual overview of their regional economic-development work.
Jill Amundson and Rebecca Peterson told commissioners that WCI serves nine counties in west central Minnesota and the White Earth Nation and reviewed cumulative program outputs since incorporation in 1986: $59 million in loans distributed, $84 million in grants, creation of 9,100 jobs and impacts on 1,280 businesses. "They also went over the background of West Central Initiative, which serves nine counties of west central Minnesota and the White Earth Nation," the record states. The presenters reviewed programs and services WCI offers to support local business and community development.
The update was presented as part of routine regional partnership reporting to the county commission.
