Road & Bridge Superintendent Jim Meier asked the commission to authorize advertising 2026 budgeted projects for bid, including Hot Mix Asphalt paving of about 9.6 miles, a microsurfacing project expected to cover 20 miles, and a reinforced-concrete box (RCB) bridge replacement at K-15.9 on NW 12th St. just west of N. Ridge Rd.; the board approved authorizing staff to advertise those projects for bid.
At the same Nov. 12 meeting, Department on Aging Director Lona Kelly and Transportation Coordinator Karen Kaufman presented a SFY 2027 Kansas Department of Transportation General Public Transportation grant application; they said the anticipated local match for the grant is $87,266.27, which includes the purchase of one vehicle. The board approved submitting the application and authorized staff to sign and submit required documentation.
