The Board adopted an ordinance implementing a two percent bonus for each qualifying full‑time County employee for Fiscal Year 2025‑26. County Administrator Gottschalk told the Board the bonus was included in the Governor's budget and retained by the General Assembly; the county will accept approximately $150,000 in Commonwealth funds and provide roughly $250,000 from local revenues to cover the total cost.
The ordinance, adopted unanimously on motion of Andy Hargrove, accepts $90,440 to the General Fund and $50,698 to the Virginia Public Assistance Fund as Commonwealth reimbursements, authorizes transfers from the Multi‑Purpose Reserve to cover remaining departmental payments (estimated $9,300 for Social Services), and empowers the County Administrator to execute required certification and reimbursement documents. Payments will be made in a June 2026 payroll to employees employed as of April 28, 2026 and active at payment time.
