Soil and Water District lists grant opportunities, watershed plan status and local field work

District Administrative Manager Sara Gronfeld reported three new SSTS permits, available Septic Upgrade Grant funds, progress on the Bois de Sioux–Mustinka watershed plan pending a Second Grade Stabilization Project, and several soil-health grant and loan options for local farmers.
Sara Gronfeld, District Administrative Manager for the Soil and Water Conservation District, updated the Board on county conservation work and funding opportunities. Gronfeld said the district received three new SSTS permit applications and that Septic Upgrade Grant funds remain available to eligible property owners.
She provided a status update on the Bois de Sioux–Mustinka Comprehensive Watershed Management Plan and said construction of a Second Grade Stabilization Project is pending. Gronfeld described available Soil Health Grants (state and federal) for cover crops and strip-till/no-till practices and noted low-interest loans are available for agricultural best-management projects. She also summarized recent field work including mowing for Mid-Contract Management, seeding and brush removal.
