Sheriff reports storm-related outage, jail inspection change and two new deputies sworn

Sheriff Trevor Wright updated the Traverse County Commission on jail operations and staffing. Wright said that inspection frequency for the county jail has changed from biannual to annual following the appointment of a new Jail Administrator and that he and Chair Jerrel Olson plan to visit Wilkin County to discuss a possible jail task force.
Wright reported that a recent storm caused the jail to lose connectivity with State systems for an extended time. "We had two new Deputies sworn in on Friday, Stephen Roos and Georgia Neitzke," Wright said. He added he has spoken with Morris Electronics about a technical solution to prevent future outages. The Board did not take additional action at the meeting beyond hearing the update.
