Virginia Department of Transportation representative Mister French updated the board on maintenance and capital projects affecting the county, saying crews remain on schedule on the Route 46 bridge and paving contracts for the 2025 season will be advertised next week.
"Crews have been busy still on Route 46, on the bridge project. No delays in the past month, still on schedule for a frame completion," Mister French said. He also reported work installing mile-marker signs along Route 460 at 0.5-mile intervals to assist EMS and emergency responders with location reporting. VDOT noted a Chute Road speed study is underway and staff are communicating with schools and bus-stop locations while the study completes.
