County Administrator Mundy told the board the proposed FY26 budget does not include a countywide tax-rate increase but does include higher water and sewer charges for sanitary-district customers. He said staff put the proposed water and sewer rates on a third page of the legal notice and explained that those increases are meant to cover variable operating cost increases for the sanitary district rather than be paid from the general fund.
Mundy provided an illustrative impact for a typical Amelia County household in the sanitary district that uses 3,000 gallons per month, saying that would equate to roughly a $5 monthly increase or about an 8% rise if the household receives both water and sewer service. Board members asked staff to confirm the exact fee tables and flagged typographical issues in the notice; the board postponed final advertisement until the numbers are corrected and verified at a scheduled workshop on April 14.
