Library board honors Glenn Smith for 40 years leading circuit court records program

The Library of Virginia board adopted a commending resolution April 11 honoring Glenn Smith for more than 40 years of service and leadership of the Circuit Court Records Preservation program.
State Archivist Greg Crawford introduced the resolution text that notes Mr. Smith began his Library career on July 1, 1984, and that over four decades he served as the first manager of the Circuit Court Records Preservation program, traveling the Commonwealth to advise circuit court clerks on preserving historic records. The resolution states, in part, "WHEREAS Glenn Smith began his distinguished career with the Library of Virginia on July 1, 1984, as a Library Assistant; and ... WHEREAS Glenn Smith retired on January 1, 2025, after more than 40 years of exceptional service to the Library of Virginia and the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia;" the board unanimously approved the resolution after a motion from Malfourd W. "Bo" Trumbo and a second from Barbara Vines Little.
The resolution was incorporated into the minutes and a copy will be presented to Mr. Smith as a token of the board’s appreciation.
