Council amended Ordinance 11-2026 to change the proposed safety director compensation from $16,000 to $20,000 and then adopted the ordinance as amended by unanimous poll vote.
During the discussion, Councilwoman Jennifer Jansen said, "from her knowledge and involvement with the city that Mayor Gluss will be the most experienced and qualified safety director that we have ever had and his pay should reflect that." Council debated prior amounts; Mr. Thompson noted a prior level of $15,000 and the council approved the higher amount by a 7–0 vote. The ordinance was advanced as an emergency and adopted at the same meeting.
