The Library of Virginia board voted unanimously April 11 to approve an updated Collections Development Statement developed after multiple rounds of staff revisions and committee review.
Archival, Collections & Records Management Committee Chair Peter E. Broadbent Jr. reported the committee’s unanimous recommendation after Samuel Hayes III moved committee approval. At the board meeting Chair C. Paul Brockwell Jr. presented the committee’s action and the full board adopted the statement without objection. Staff framed the statement as the guiding policy for acquisitions, retention and stewardship of the Library’s collections.
Board discussion included operational follow-through such as staffing and inventory work that supports implementation of the updated statement.
