Fire chief seeks radios and record-management software; council approves both

Interim Fire Chief Randy Kimbro told council the city’s new engine arrived "bare bones" because the purchase was fast-tracked and requested funding for two cab radios and related mounting. He noted the radios are compatible with regional systems and said the radios' software is installed; the requisition (26-FIRE-00002) was listed in the packet at $16,401.46.
Council approved the radio purchase to B & C Communications (amount not to exceed $16,401.46) and approved a records-management software contract to First Quote for $10,000 (including a $2,000 startup fee and $8,000 annual renewal). Kimbro said radios have the longest lead time and the department expects delivery by the end of March; outfitting and mounting will follow, with the engine likely not in service until late April.
