Olmsted Falls approves $25,451 security-door upgrade; Strongsville praises patrolman’s negotiation

Police Chief Odis Rogers asked council to approve a requisition to Duman’s Lock and Safe not to exceed $25,451.40 for installation of security door controls on the administration floor and police areas. Finance notes in the minutes state the cost will be covered by a NOPEC reimbursement grant. Council approved the requisition by a 5–0 vote.
Chief Rogers also read a November 21, 2025 letter from the Strongsville Police Department recognizing Patrolman Matt Schuster, a negotiator on the regional SWAT team. The letter stated, “Patrolman Matt Schuster’s skill and dedication helped guide a vulnerable person through their darkest moment and his actions quite literally saved a life.” Chief Rogers publicly thanked outgoing council members and staff during his remarks.
The requisition and formal commendation were recorded in the minutes and carried without dissent.
