Circuit Court Records Preservation grants fund more than 100 local projects across Virginia

The Library of Virginia reported April 11 that its Circuit Court Records Preservation program has funded more than 100 preservation projects across the Commonwealth.
At the board meeting, State Archivist Greg Crawford said the CCRP "awarded around $2 million in grants to fund 114 preservation projects across Virginia." At the committee level earlier in the day, minutes note CCRP grants were awarded to 105 localities; staff will reconcile project and locality counts as part of ongoing program reporting.
The grants finance preservation work for circuit court records—documents such as land records, wills, civil and criminal case files, military records and tax records—that archivists said are among Virginia’s oldest and most historically significant holdings. The board noted CCRP awards and discussed the program’s role in preserving local government records and supporting clerks across the state.
