Mayor Graven thanks residents, council issues commendations at final Olmsted Falls meeting

Council President Cornel Munteanu read a statement from Mayor James P. Graven at the Olmsted Falls City Council meeting on Dec. 16. In the statement the mayor apologized for his absence because of a family emergency and thanked residents and staff for eight years of service, writing that “it has been an honor and a privilege to be the mayor of this great city.”
Council then adopted Resolution 66-2025, commending city directors, chiefs and administration staff, and Resolution 67-2025, expressing appreciation for Mayor James P. Graven. Both resolutions were moved by Councilman Brian Chitester, seconded and adopted by unanimous 5–0 votes after the motions to suspend the rules and waive readings. The meeting record also notes the mayor credited city leaders with restoring financial stability and increasing the general fund balance.
Outgoing council members offered remarks of thanks. Councilman Jay McFadden, Councilwoman Megan Coy and Councilman Chad Gluss each thanked residents and colleagues; Council Pro-Tempore Brian Chitester and Council President Cornel Munteanu also expressed appreciation for staff and volunteers. State representative Mr. Dovilla later presented House of Representatives commendations to the outgoing members and the mayor.
The actions closed with formal signatures on the minutes and the council adjourned at 7:45 p.m. The meeting record lists the commendation resolutions and the adoption votes as official council actions.
