Cumberland County hears FY2026–2027 departmental and external funding requests at budget workshop

County staff presented FY2026–2027 budget requests from county departments and external agencies including Accounting/Auditing, Data Processing/E911, Building Inspections, Animal Control, CSA, Parks and Recreation and Refuse; additional outside agencies were listed for informational presentation after a quorum was lost.
County staff framed the Feb. 19 session as a budget work session for fiscal year 2026–2027 and presented department and agency requests to the Board of Supervisors. The minutes list specific county functions seeking funding or review: Accounting/Auditing; Data Processing/E911; Building Inspections; Animal Control; CSA; Parks and Recreation; and Refuse/General Properties.
The minutes also list external and nonprofit requests on the agenda including Southside VASAP, Piedmont Habitat for Humanity, STEPS/DV, Free Clinic of Powhatan, and BABS. Because Supervisor Robert Saunders Jr. did not return after lunch and the meeting lost quorum, the county administrator proceeded with those items for informational purposes only and no formal votes on those requests were recorded in the minutes.
