During the public‑comment period, Joshua Sims of 141 Spirea Drive told the board that the property at 76 Happy Acres Road, adjacent to his home, appears to be in violation of Haywood County Code chapter 114, alleging a recorded structure within 500 feet of his residence and that he has not received a response from development services despite contacting staff in July.
“My name is Joshua Sims. I reside at 141 Spirea Drive in Waynesville,” Sims said. He asked that the board relay his request to development services director and county manager and urged a timely reply; he said he first requested a response on July 10 and has followed up by email. The chair asked staff to ensure follow‑up after the meeting.
No sworn enforcement action or staff determination was made during the meeting; the matter was raised as a constituent concern and the county manager and development services were asked to follow up with the commenter.
