House Bill 1595, extending the offender treatment board's statutory existence, was presented and discussed before a committee vote that resulted in 11 ayes and 1 nay.
Ashley Fuquay of the Tennessee Department of Correction described the board as administratively housed in the department and statutorily required to develop evaluation and treatment standards for convicted and supervised offenders. Fuquay referenced Tennessee Code Annotated and said the board prescribes standardized procedures for clinical risk evaluations and behavior‑management monitoring.
Representatives asked about coordination with domestic violence advocacy groups; Fuquay said the department can and will reach out to advocates to explain procedures and engage stakeholders. The committee recorded the 11–1 tally and adjourned.
