Representative Brock Martin told the committee HB 2389 establishes a biannual report from TennCare on the volume and patterns of psychotropic medications prescribed in Tennessee. He said the reporting requirement will make data more accessible to lawmakers and the public and help identify trends. "A more detailed report will bring transparency to trends across the state," he said, adding an estimated annual spending figure: "with estimated over $480,000,000 spent annually on by TennCare for these medications."
There were no follow-up questions from members and the bill passed the committee by voice/roll call (14 ayes, 0 nays), sending it to the next legislative steps.
