"We are all members of the human race," McGill said, thanking the council for recognizing Black history and culture and urging residents to keep hope alive and respect one another. Cain said Brevard Ebony News is expanding its reach and invited the public to a ribbon-cutting for the publication.
The presentation included community acknowledgments: resident Nino Lyons presented McGill with flowers, and Mayor Price shared a brief remembrance of the late Councilman Richard K. "Dick" Blake. The recognition is part of the council's regular agenda of proclamations and community engagement.
