The Commission on Children and Youth elected new leadership for 2026–27 during its March 23 meeting. Commissioner Paul Tonnessen moved to elect Commissioner Cayla Kutaka as Chair; Commissioner Catherine “Momi” Medeiros seconded and the Commission voted unanimously to approve the motion (6-0, 2 absences, 1 vacancy). Chair Heidi Drahn continued to facilitate the meeting with no objections and the Commission agreed that Kutaka would begin her Chair duties after the meeting.
The Commission also elected a Vice Chair in the same session. Chair Drahn moved to elect Commissioner Paul Tonnessen as Vice Chair; Commissioner Medeiros seconded and the motion passed unanimously (6-0, 2 absences, 1 vacancy).
