Albany County authorizes $25,000 for Cornell Cooperative Extension to support summer youth jobs

"Part of it is admin for DCYF to administer the summer youth employment, and then, $25,000 which would go to Cornell Cooperative Extension," Acting Commissioner Ward said, describing the two-part measure. Ward told the body the $25,000 would be used to recruit and retain job sites and to provide the financial-literacy component required by OTADA. Ward also said the broader DSS allocation tied to the program is "about $735,000" and is spread countywide. The clerk moved the item and the board voted in favor; the transcript records vocal 'Aye' and 'Motion passed' but does not list individual vote names or counts.
Ward said Cornell Cooperative Extension will "recruit and retain job sites in youth in, the Hilltown, Selkirk, Burnout, Westreload" and will deliver financial-literacy instruction as required. A committee member asked whether the $25,000 pot was limited to hilltowns; Ward clarified the $25,000 is specific to Cornell Cooperative Extension while the roughly $735,000 passes through DSS for countywide distribution.
