Butler County to seek bids to replace North Shop fuel pumps after vendor assessments

Public Works Director Curtis Mader told the Board the fuel pumps at the North Shop have experienced intermittent failures for about a year, sometimes failing to pump or operating very slowly, particularly in the afternoon. Two vendors inspected the system and concluded the existing suction pumps are outdated and not repairable and recommended a modern tank-mounted push-pump system; staff asked to solicit bids for equipment and installation.
According to the transcript, both vendors "concluded that the existing pumps use outdated technology and should be replaced and cannot be repaired." Commissioner Darren Jackson moved to authorize Public Works to solicit bids for replacement of the North Shop fuel pumps; Commissioner Dan Woydziak seconded and the motion carried 5-0. The Board also discussed related maintenance topics including local bridges, chip sealing and culvert work.
