Butler County reviews Haverhill truck-traffic resolution, directs legal edits

The Butler County Board of Commissioners held a work session June 30 to review Resolution No. 05-50, originally passed Sept. 26, 2005 and amended Dec. 6, 2005, which governs truck traffic on SW Haverhill Road. Public Works Director Curtis Mader presented the resolution's intent and residents raised visibility and safety concerns.
Resident Larry Yarbrough told the board he wanted the county to address truck traffic on SW Haverhill Road. Christie Bowman asked that "the signage [be] larger, which would make it easier for truck drivers to see." After discussion the board instructed County Counselor Terrence Huelskamp to modify the resolution language related to signage and return the revised language for board approval; the item was not finalized at the meeting.
The board did not vote on changes at this session; staff will prepare updated resolution text for a future meeting.
