Toby Stewart presented a request from Freedom Hooves Therapeutic Riding Center Inc. to operate a nonprofit therapeutic riding center on a 39.5+/- acre RR parcel north of SW 70th St. The proposed center will offer riding and ground-based lessons for children and adults with disabilities. The Planning Commission approved the CUP 5-0 and recommended conditions including compliance with building and environmental codes and directional lighting to minimize impacts to neighbors.
Commissioners approved Resolution No. 26-30 (motion Woydziak; second Murphy). Staff noted the facility is set back from neighboring properties by roughly a half-mile and that utilities will be provided by a water well and lagoon wastewater system; Butler Rural Electric will provide power.
