After extended discussion, which included concerns that the board was proposing to spend funds equivalent to a first‑year teacher salary, the motion to approve the contract failed with all directors voting no. Kortmeyer said the administration will repost for an interim HR position (both internal and external) and work with the board on next steps. Director Horn Frazier framed her opposition succinctly: "I will be voting against this contract tonight," and others echoed concerns about posting and the need to align with the forthcoming organizational study.
