Commissioners approve multiple personnel actions, including hires, promotions and a termination

The Wayne County Commissioners recorded a number of personnel actions on July 23. Motions included an amendment of the start date for CYS Caseworker Apolinar Vargas to July 23, 2026 (moved by Commissioner Shook and seconded by Commissioner Cramer); acceptance of the resignation of van driver Joseph Palya (effective July 14, 2026); and acceptance of the resignation of CYS On-Going Protective Supervisor Thomas Kriton (effective August 6, 2026). The minutes record a motion by Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Shook, to terminate the employment of Part-Time Corrections Officer Paul Duarte effective July 20, 2026; the minutes include the motion but do not show a separate roll-call tally for that item.
The board also ratified the judicial hiring of Cindi Sathra as Magisterial District Judge Clerk 1 (District Court 22-3-01), effective July 27, 2026, and approved hires and a promotion resulting from Salary Board sessions: Branda Angel (County Caseworker 2, effective July 27, 2026), Jenifer Gable (Clerk 2, Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, effective July 27, 2026), and promotion of Thomas Bryant from part-time to full-time Corrections Officer, effective July 26, 2026.
