Council flags multiple Long Prairie properties for enforcement, discusses cannabis ordinance timeline

Mayor David Wright reported several properties in town, all owned by the same individual, are in disarray and have building permits more than a year old. He directed staff to send the property owner a letter requiring completion or to impose fines for noncompliance if work is not finished. The addresses mentioned were Lake Street, 1st Ave South, 1st Street and Todd Street.
Separately, Council member Jim Kreemer provided the Planning & Zoning update: concern was raised about too many vehicles at 720 1st Street, the council discussed adopting a cannabis ordinance by Jan. 1, 2025, and received an update on the rental ordinance under review. No new ordinances were adopted at the Sept. 3 meeting; the items remain under consideration.
