Anchorage declares Arbor Day, Forestry Board readies tree give-away March 19

Forestry Board Chair Jan Ruzich told the City Council that the Arbor Day event and Tree Give-away will be held on March 19; residents will choose from seven tree species. "Arbor Day event and Tree Give-away will be held on March 19," Ruzich said, and she noted Anchorage earned Tree City USA designation for the 36th consecutive year and the Tree City Growth Award for the 15th year.
Ruzich also reported the Ridge Road beautification project is back on track. Council approved a resolution for the Mayor to proclaim March 19, 2025 Arbor Day in Anchorage; the motion to make a proclamation passed unanimously.
