Matt Lanoue of Long Prairie Sanitation asked the council to approve a rate increase that would raise the charge for small carts (35 40 gallon) by $1.00 and for medium to large carts (65 96 gallon) by $1.50, effective Jan. 1, 2025. Mayor David Wright moved to approve the request; Council member Lilah Gripne seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously.
The council approved the change as a formal motion at the Sept. 3 meeting. The increase was requested by Long Prairie Sanitation and will be reflected in bills issued after the effective date; the motion record in the minutes notes unanimous council approval but does not list individual roll-call votes.
