Police report: Long Prairie officers logged 199 calls in 13 days; new equipment, trainings planned

Council member Jim Kreemer told the Long Prairie City Council that the police department recorded 199 calls for service in the previous 13 days, averaging about 15.3 calls per day. He reported Officer Morazan was attending a two-day mental health response training and Officer Puff would conduct Standard Field Sobriety Test training on Sept. 19–20.
Kreemer said the department received a new squad vehicle and body cameras last week and plans to purchase a handheld LIDAR unit to monitor speeding from side streets. He also said the department is continuing background checks for an Administrative Assistant candidate and will assist with the Homecoming Parade at 2 p.m. on Sept. 20.
