Long Prairie council accepts resignation, advances hiring plan and approves Teamsters settlement

The council accepted the resignation of Matt Farrow, effective Sept. 2, 2024. Mayor David Wright moved the acceptance and the motion carried unanimously.
Council also approved advertising for a full-time Public Works position that prefers candidates with a Class B license with airbrake; non-CDL applicants may be considered if they obtain the license within six months and pass drug and alcohol testing. Separately, the council unanimously approved a proposed settlement agreement between the City of Long Prairie and the Teamsters Union related to a class-action grievance (BMS Case No. 24-PG-1927).
Council members tabled discussion of Ted Gray's part-time employment and directed staff to seek consultant-cost comparisons from Sourcewell and other vendors; they also voted to end Gray's health insurance effective Sept. 30 pending the Sept. 16 follow-up.
