Long Prairie council approves donation to Hilltop Kitchen, temporary liquor licenses and multiple peddler permits

At its Aug. 19 meeting the Long Prairie City Council approved a $3,311 donation to Hilltop Regional Kitchen for 2025, approved temporary liquor licenses for the American Legion and St. Mary’s Parish Festival on Sept. 8, and approved a list of peddler licenses including NexGen Exteriors Inc. and several contractors. Motions on each item were carried unanimously.
Council member Clint Krueger moved to donate $3,311 to the Hilltop Regional Kitchen; Council member Jim Kreemer moved to approve the peddler licenses; the council also approved a transient merchant license for Southwestern Advantage to operate door-to-door Aug. 20–24 from 9 a.m.–9 p.m. Council asked that the city post all peddler and transient merchant listings on the municipal website so residents can find them easily.
The council also approved a temporary liquor license for St. Mary’s festival Sept. 8 and recommended Police Chief Ryan Hanson work with event organizers to ensure public-safety measures for the Hot Cakes Hustle 3K/5K route on Sept. 28.
