The Long Prairie City Council voted unanimously on Aug. 19 to add $58,927 to the 2025 budget for computer hardware and software to update the wastewater plant's three systems. Council member Lilah Gripne made the motion, seconded by JoAnn Schroeder.
The proposal from Automatic Systems Company covers SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) system updates and service for the plant's three computer systems. Council members recorded the funding request for inclusion in the 2025 budget rather than approving immediate purchase, per the motion recorded at the meeting.
Council discussion noted the item relates to ongoing wastewater plant operations and long-term reliability of plant control systems; no member opposed the budget addition.
