Public Works Director Gary Burkhead informed the Anchorage City Council that Sanchez Tree Service, which had been awarded the hazardous tree removal contract in December, is unable to meet the contract requirements and "will not be signing the contract." Burkhead recommended awarding the work to the next-lowest bidder, 502 Tree Service, LLC.
Council member Hunter Wilson moved to accept the 502 Tree Service bid; Bill Wetherton seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The council took immediate action to replace the original contractor rather than reopen bidding. The council did not specify a contract dollar amount in the meeting record.
