Piedmont students honored for civic projects including transit and voter outreach

Two seniors spoke about their projects: Abigail Jacoby described advocacy to restore the Route 33 AC Transit stop, saying the route’s loss made commutes harder for students and families. Noah Song described hand‑writing more than 40 personalized letters to mobilize unlikely voters ahead of a local proposition and said the experience reinforced his interest in civic engagement.
Board members praised the students’ work and asked whether projects coordinated with the city; staff said students had presented to the city council and to AC Transit as part of some projects. The presentation concluded with congratulations and a photo opportunity.
