The Anchorage City Council voted unanimously April 14 to adopt an ordinance setting the city tax rate for the 2024–2025 tax year at $0.323 per $100 of assessed value. Council member Matt Delehanty conducted the ordinance’s second reading and the council approved the measure on a unanimous vote.
The ordinance includes a 5% discount on the face amount of a tax bill if payment is received at City Hall and postmarked on or before May 31, 2025. City Administrative Officer Reneé Major told the council that a compensating-rate meeting tied to HB44 was held the same evening and that staff discussed sources of funds, surplus, and excess funds in advance of finalizing the levy. The council did not amend the rate and no separate votes on amendments were recorded.
