Anchorage police report two officer vacancies; new turn restrictions proving effective

Police Chief Dean Hayes reported to the Anchorage City Council that the department "has two police officer vacancies" and that he "hopes to hire two officers this week." Council member Hunter Wilson noted that the number of citations issued in recent weeks is down.
Hayes also said the city installed signs restricting turns from Evergreen Road onto Woodland Road and Log Cabin Lane during peak traffic hours and reported the measure "have been effective." He told the council he has started the application process for five-year accreditation from the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police. The council did not take action on police staffing during the meeting.
