Council approves Mohave Crossing hotel redesign, 3–2, with lights/conditions

Council reviewed a revised site plan for the Mohave Crossing development (Ordinance 2026-028), which includes a reduced hotel footprint (from 107 to 94 rooms), an added wing, an outdoor pool and a sport court. Staff reviewed prior approvals and a set of 15 planning commission conditions that carried forward; the council added a condition for amenity-area lights to be turned off by 10 p.m.
Several residents and council members expressed concern about noise from sport courts and lighting impacts on nearby neighborhoods. Developer representative Colby Anderson said the revisions arose from collaboration with the hotel brand and construction-level design work, and that the team had attempted to minimize neighborhood impacts. “All we've done in the last year since the PDE site plan was approved... was try to dial in the site plans, get construction drawings put together,” Anderson said. The council approved the amended PD by a 3–2 roll-call vote (ayes: Austin Anderson, Danielle Larkin, Michelle Tanner; nays: Steve Kemp, Natalie Larson).
