CDOT highlights $1.6M Reconnecting Communities grant for 60th Avenue under I‑270 bridges

Dave Marinich told the board that one of the ‘‘above and beyond’’ community enhancements tied to the I‑270 program is a proposed $1,600,000 grant from the Federal Highways Reconnecting Communities program to remedy long‑standing problems beneath timber bridges on 60th Avenue in Commerce City.
"One of the most exciting aspects is we want a $1,600,000 grant from, Federal Highways Reconnecting Communities grant between, Brighton Boulevard and Vasquez for the 60th Avenue," Marinich said. He said the problem affects emergency response, limits transit movements and has led to repeated truck strikes of the low‑clearance structures. CDOT expects obligation of the funds by the end of August and will select a designer to develop alternatives to raise clearances and explore a regional transit connection.
