He said those changes, combined with intersection and operational work, aim to reduce above‑average crash rates experienced on the corridor.
On environmental and design refinements, Parks said a value‑engineering review recommended opening the Niagra Creek channel (now culverted) to improve floodplain function, simplify phasing and save construction costs; he also showed revised aesthetics and sidewalks for the 88th Avenue bridge. Commissioners expressed appreciation and urged continued coordination with local first responders.
