The Adams County Board of Commissioners granted the Daughters of the American Revolution permission to display a series of 28 silhouette 'patriot' signs on the courthouse lawn and other community locations in a rotating schedule.
Carol, representing the DAR, described the signs as silhouettes with the patriot’s name and chapter, noting the displays would rotate every one to two weeks and be removed for the winter after Veterans Day. She said the chapter had coordinated with the museum and library to display the signs around town as well. Commissioners approved the request but asked staff to coordinate placement and timing to avoid weekly mowing conflicts and to find mulch or flower-bed locations where possible to minimize maintenance impacts. "It's a celebration of America's 200 birthday," Carol said when describing the intent of the display.
Staff (parks/buildings and grounds) and the DAR representative agreed to work together on placement maps and timing; commissioners asked that the DAR coordinate with Rick (buildings and grounds) and Kara Gerber (parks department) to identify suitable locations.
