Mrs. Lonergan took the oath of office at the July 28 meeting of the East Rockaway Board of Education, beginning a new three-year term as a board trustee. Chair opened the meeting at 4:35 p.m. and introduced the oath process before Mrs. Lonergan recited it.
"I do solemnly swear that I will support the constitution of The United States and the constitution of the state of New York ... and I will faithfully discharge the duties of board of education trustee according to the best of my ability," Mrs. Lonergan said during the oath. The swearing-in was followed by routine agenda items and several motions that the board approved by voice vote.
