U.N. plans another 5+1 meeting on Cyprus after recent visits; Secretary‑General stresses preparation

The Secretary‑General said his recent trip included meetings in Syria, Jordan and Cyprus and that, based on discussions, he has "decided that I would convene another 5 plus 1 meeting after adequate preparations on confidence building, methodology, and substance." He said the U.N. will work with the two sides and guarantors to create conditions for success.
When asked what ‘‘meaningful adequate preparation’’ means, he said earlier 5+1 meetings failed because they were not well prepared and reiterated that this next meeting must be prepared to yield concrete progress toward a settlement.
